It’s not every day my job resembles a top secret James Bond 007 assignment.  But when Nikon Global asked me to undertake a photo shoot using their brand new, yet to be released, Nikkor AF-S 24-70mm f/2.8E ED VR lens things certainly started to look that way.  At the time there were only two of these lenses in existence, the one winging its way to me and another sent to a top portrait photographer in the UK.  Upon receiving the lens (hand delivered to me at… READ MORE >

Despite it’s winter themed name, Snowshoe mountain is a fantastic summer retreat with so much on offer it was hard to know where to begin when I arrived there late last month to commence a commercial photo shoot. From clay bird shooting to mountain biking, wilderness canoes and offroad Segways, a round of golf or a round of cocktails, exploring the forest trails by foot or by 4×4, seeking out peaceful tranquility or some spills, thrills and adventure… It can all be easily found in this… READ MORE >

Each year – together with Wildlight Safaris – I lead a photographic safari through Botswana where we witness and photograph a myriad of wildlife across a number of different regions, from the Chobe River to the Okavango Delta.  On last year’s trip I wanted to take a little extra time after the safari to explore Africa just a little bit further.  So after waving goodbye to our safari guests, together with Dean Fitzpatrick I headed off on the long road trip towards our destination; Damara Land… READ MORE >

The judges have made their decision and the winners of the 2014 Travel Photography Awards have been announced and are online at the website here – www.TravelPhotographyAwards.com/winners/2014. Why don’t you grab yourself a nice cuppa, put your feet up and have a scroll through the winning and finalist entries for some stunning photography from places as far apart as Norway, New Zealand, Alaska and Tahiti.  Myanmar (Burma) was a hot favourite with a number of the winning portfolios from this unique and mystical travel destination. In… READ MORE >

In September 2013 Chris spent time in Africa hosting a group photo tour with Wildlight Safaris, as well as visiting the Himba tribes of Namibia and capturing some great new wildlife images from Botswana as he checked out possible tour locations for this year’s Photo Tour safari. It was while on this trip that Chris first introduced us to Car-L and the amazing lion pics he was able to capture with this small remote control vehicle. What we haven’t shared with you yet are the further… READ MORE >

Well we’ve all been caught up in the whole Car-L phenomenon for the past couple of weeks, but that doesn’t mean I’ve forgotten about all of the other exciting projects we’ve had going on lately…  Not least of which was our Travel Photography Awards 2013 Prize Winner Dana Allen’s trip to Tahiti with Chris. I touched base with Dana recently to hear how their adventure went, and to see some of the amazing photos he captured on his journey around French Polynesia. Having traveled from Zimbabwe… READ MORE >

Chris McLennan Video

It seemed like a fun project to put together a slide show of the first 12 months (not even) of shooting back on Nikon. However it was one of those projects that got away on me once I actually started…! If you are a photographer reading this, I challenge you to look back at just a single year’s worth of your own photography.  Its amazing how many images we actually take – and how many of them provide “markers” for the journey we all take with… READ MORE >

I was preparing for an exhibition earlier this year and had the concept of restricting the content to a 12 month period of one of my favourite subjects – Wildlife. In the lead up to the exhibition I had just started shooting with the D800E.  I was so captivated by the huge files and the ability to capture incredible detail in the images that I decided to shoot some local content specifically for the exhibition with that camera.  This is where the idea was born to… READ MORE >

McLennan_Spitzkoppe Arch

Further to my earlier post on “Better Landscape Photography”, I thought I’d share one of my new landscape photos from the recent trip through Botswana and Namibia. This is Spitzkoppe’s Arch “The Bridge” in Erongo, Namibia. I had been on tented safari through Botswana with Dean Fitzpatrick of Wildlight Safaris, hosting our annual Wildlife Photo Tour (click here for 2014 trip info and dates). Following the workshop – which was a huge success and such an enjoyable trip for everyone involved – Dean and I set… READ MORE >
