Blue Lagoon Cruises, Awesome Adventures Fiji Launch New Season’s Brochures.
Images by World Renown Kiwi Photographer Featured.

The new season’s brochures from Blue Lagoon Cruises and Awesome Adventures Fiji feature stunning images taken by internationally acclaimed photographer Chris McLennan during a recent on-location shoot commissioned by the companies. The cover shot on the Awesome Adventures Fiji brochure is an aerial depicting a sparkling azure ocean, snorkelers and a rustic Fijian reed raft.  It’s one of those ‘invite me in’ images, says the companies’ marketing director, Graham Sewell, who has worked with McLennan on previous shoots and brings an advertising industry background to his tourism marketing role.

The photograph was taken just off-shore from Barefoot Manta which is one of nearly 30 resorts packaged by Awesome and where the Vinaka Fiji volunteering programme is based. Sewell said while McLennan, who lives on the West Coast near Auckland, had tourism industry clients from one end of the globe to the other, Fiji remained one of his favourite destinations. “We were pleased to be able to commission Chris again earlier this year. He is a passionate and dedicated photographer with a string of international awards, and we feel fortunate to have had him focus on our Fiji.

“Again, he has done us proud with innovative and inviting images such as the double page spread we’ve featured inside the Awesome brochure. This one shows young visitors being taught weaving by a smiling Fijian man. It was taken in an old cave in the volcanic rocks at Barefoot Kuata. This is a destination that is two hours from Port Denarau aboard our Yasawa Flyer resort connection vessel, and also the location of our popular Ultimate Encounter experience where you can snorkel with reef sharks.”

The Awesome Adventures Fiji brochure features a streamlined selection process to make the choice of travel type easier. It also includes two new Yasawa islands resorts – Viwa Island Resort three hours by Yasawa Flyer from Port Denarau, and Boathouse Nanuya at Nanuya Lailai. A further new property also packaged by Awesome is the recently opened Palms resort at Port Denarau, increasing the choice of properties available pre and post visits to the islands.

In the Blue Lagoon Cruises brochure new McLennan images include the double page spread taken of the Fiji Princess boutique cruise ship at the scenic Sacred Islands and, on the next page, at a moodily partly shadowed Modriki Island. Modriki, where the Tom Hank’s blockbuster Cast Away was shot a number of years ago, is an overnight anchorage for the Fiji Princess. Another picture perfect is the shot of the Fiji Princess at the famed Blue Lagoon where Blue Lagoon Cruises has its own private island peninsula – and the vessel overnights tied up to a coconut palm!

On the ‘Meet a Fijian Princess’ pages of the brochure where details of on board life are laid out, Chris McLennan, who is clearly a lover of boats and the ocean, treats readers to an artistic water level picture of the Fiji Princess taken as the sun was lowering. Other imagery shows the warm welcome that the all-Fijian crew give their guests, along with insights into the cultural experiences on board and in the villages visited.

The new season’s brochures are available during FTE16 from the Blue Lagoon Cruises and Awesome Adventures Fiji booth or online at and
